Hello, beautiful people! Happy Sunday. How are you? Let me know.
I am well. I am blessed. I am.
It was a busy week for me. I am working on building the foundation for several projects this quarter, and if done well, my workload will be set up for success for the rest of 2024. So, I’m laser-focused on doing the deep work every hour I can.
I am also in the thick of planning for the end of the school year, summer activities, and vacations. My oldest daughter, Emory, is graduating 5th grade. Sage, my youngest daughter, is graduating in Pre-K. The calendar is completely full for May.
I went to the gym every damn day, which helps when life is moving so fast. I also started going on 30-minute hot girl walks this week, which helps my entire being thrive. Try to fit in if you can.
My first walk is after I’m done with carpool and before I start working. Usually, I would be scrolling social media (currently, on an extended break) or checking emails. Instead, I decided to take a stroll around the neighborhood.
The 2nd hot girl walk is after lunch. I struggled to be productive after lunch because of the 2 pm slump. However, since starting with a health coach, changing my diet, and adding a walk - I feel refreshed for the second half of the day. This small effort has started a daily 10k steps regime for me. I always wanted to get here but didn’t know how.
The power of manifestation is real. Lately, my prayer has been to show me how to use what I have. Help me to stretch when I reach, Lord.

I am sharing some pieces I found valuable or just enjoyed and am passing along….
Books -
No Name in the Street by James Baldwin. I continue to try to find my footing in the caste system of the world. It’s soothing to read the works of writers from our past who endured, experienced, and persevered. Have you read this book before? Do you have any recommendations for the black American experience? Please share with us in the comments.
The Lightmaker’s Manifesto by Karen Walrond - I heard the author speak, and so much of what she was sharing resonated with me. Her work focuses on joyfully advocating for our passions.
Drama-Free by Nedra Glover Tawwab - just in case you’re not seeing a therapist regularly to work through your relationship issues, this book will help.
Podcasts -
Very interesting episode of GirlBoss Radio with Africa Brooke titled “How to actually speak your mind.” - if you listen to this, I would love to hear your thoughts.
More from Dr. Anita Phillips on Sarah Jakes Robert’s podcast. This episode is called “The Power of Ambiguity”.
If you’re interested in learning more about AI from a business perspective, this episode from Morgan Debaun may be insightful. I took away a few gems.
TV/Streaming -
My husband was sure to keep me abreast of the Kendrick Lamar and Drake drops since I am not on social media. IMO, Kendrick bodied Drake, and ain’t no coming back. IJS. I think I’m caught up on all of the back and forth. If you need to catch up - here’s a playlist for you.
I have a new favorite song and possibly a new favorite artist. This song has been blessing my soul daily this week. Check out Higher by Madison Ryann Ward.
The new Katt Williams special on Netflix is pretty good. He repeatedly says he is only telling the truth, and I couldn’t agree more. Have you seen it yet? What did you think?
This week’s quote -
“We can’t always change what’s happening around us, but we can change what happens within us.”
Sending you light and love in the week ahead. You got this.
